Introduction for the BT&P DVB-T Section

The transition from over-the-air (OTA) analog to digital TV is just beginning and the Bureau Telecommunicatie en Post (BT&P) is managing this important transition that will bring to Curacao and the BES islands the crystal clear pictures and sounds of digital TV.  This transition will benefit the islands by making more efficient use of radio spectrum, bringing up-to-date technology to the islands' broadcasting system, and providing viewers with higher-quality and additional OTA TV channels.

The BT&P is making available to digital TV stakeholders critical information and guidance needed during this important transition. Broadcasters, retailers and TV manufacturers can learn about the technical requirements and specifications here, as well as access a comprehensive Retailer Guide that describes the new system and ways to help customers shop for new TV receivers.

The BT&P has selected the world's most widely deployed OTA digital TV transmission standard, Digital Video Broadcasting - Terrestrial (DVB-T) for the islands' new system, as well as a set of standards-based specifications for content creation and reception. The information below provide critical detail and guidance for the transition.
