Authority

Authority

The supervisory duties and authority of Bureau Telecommunication en Post (BT&P) have been regulated in the National Ordinance Bureau Telecommunicatie en Post, (P.B. 2006, no. 69).

This National Ordinance deals respectively with the duties and authority, the responsibilities, the inspection frameworks and the financial means with which BT&P may carry out its tasks within the sector-specific spheres of activity: Telecommunications, Post, Electricity, Water, Fuel, Bitumen and Airport tariffs.

BT&P in practice

In practice the supervisory authority of BT&P translates into diverse activities, varying from the supervision on the technical aspects of the quality of products and the provision of services, the issue of permits based on terms and conditions laid down in the law, the preparation of the issue of permits and concessions and safeguarding the observance thereof, the allocation and management of frequencies and numbers, up to the attainment of affordable tariffs.

With its expert knowledge and authority the BT&P organization also acts as a catalyst for the technological and economic development and growth of the various sectors which have an impact on society and on which its supervision is carried out. BT&P also offers effective solutions for bottlenecks which impede this development and growth and it offers support at the realization of the same.
